Planning note: Results are unrounded estimates unless shown otherwise. Verify dimensions, units, carrier rules, and operational constraints independently.

Procedure

How to use this tool

  1. 01

Choose a representative dry container size.

  2. 02

Enter one carton’s outside dimensions, weight, and planned quantity.

  3. 03

Review dimensional capacity, payload-limited capacity, fit status, and utilization.

Useful for

Common planning tasks

  • Rough FCL load planning
  • Carton-size comparisons
  • Spotting payload-bound dense cargo

Model boundary

Assumptions

  • Cartons are identical rectangular boxes arranged in one uniform axis-aligned orientation.
  • Preset dimensions and payloads are representative planning values, not equipment guarantees.
  • Cargo is evenly distributed and packaging tare is included in carton weight.

Operational caution

Limitations

  • Door opening, dunnage, clearance, bracing, axle/road limits, weight distribution, and loading sequence are excluded.
  • Actual container specifications vary by owner, manufacturer, age, and jurisdiction.

Questions and answers

Why might the result exceed a real load?

Mathematical grids ignore doors, handling clearance, bracing, damaged cartons, and practical loading sequence.

Does the calculator check payload?

Yes, using a representative preset payload, but the container CSC plate and carrier instructions control.

Can cartons rotate?

The estimator checks all six axis-aligned orientations and reports the highest simple grid count.
